Replacing the midlife malaise with midlife awakenings

Yep that’s the mission.

At the age of 44, I became an endurance athlete, breaking records no-one thought possible for a supposedly ‘middle aged’ father of four.

Now I’m in my 50th year - I do wonder what the “no one thought possible” narrative will be.

The main narrative I hear many others expressing is how unfulfilled they are. How they’ve reached this “midlife” point and how they’ve let their life slip in the pursuit of being successful. It’s as if they’ve woken up with the realisation that the goal posts of what they were striving for just kept moving and they haven’t yet kicked the fulfilment ball in the box.

The sacrifices:

A while back a good friend of mine (whose father has sacrificed more than just his own health in the pursuit of what he thought would ultimately bring him happiness) reached out and finally asked if I would take him on as transformation client.  

Like so many 50 something individuals I speak to, He too woke up with the huge almighty “WTF have I been doing all this time” moment. His health had taken a back seat.  He was out of shape, overweight, sleep deprived, unmotivated, falling apart and waking up the wrong kind of stiff in the morning.

My friend voiced that the only difference money had made to his father’s situation, was that his Dad had a private nurse and a better view from his bedroom window - other than that the sickness and disease were still the sickness and disease.

All the above put a rocket up my friend’s butt and prompted him to have a good honest look in the mirror to reassess what success truly means to him.

His eureka came with the “no one’s getting out of this alive, so I want to truly start living”.

It’s often this “no one’s getting out alive” that derails so many of us.  It’s almost a green light to get f**ked up, when it’s a green light to start authentically living our best lives.
